1. Polar bears live in various places. The population in a particular area is not known except for a researcher in the area. As a whole, it is thought that there are 22,000 to 27,000 polar bears.

2. Polar bears usually give birth to two baby bears at a time. The cubs stay with the female parent about 2 years, so the breeding takes place only once in three years.

3. The pregnant period is 8 months. The mating season is between April and August. Sometime between November and December they make dens. They give birth to bear cubs between December and January.

4. In case of polar bears in a zoo, they eat about 10kg of food a day. However, wild polar bears most certainly eat much more.
