There is an office of Kenn Borek Air in Resolute Bay Airport. Today I received a phone call from Mickey, Kenn Borek Air's base manager in Resolute Bay, who invited to come to the office to see the satellite images around Ellesmere Island. So I went out with Lucas, Inns North Hotel manager, to the office.

The satellite images showed that the clouds were covering over northern part of Ellesmere Island, including Ward Hunt Island, which is our start point. The low atmospheric pressure was being pushed by a big high-pressure air mass coming from the northeast, but it seemed not strong enough. The weather around Ellesmere Island was -46°C, southwest wind, and visibility of 2km. According to pilot it is too dangerous to fly with 2km visibility because land surface can't be seen and if the surface is not flat, the plane can fail in landing.

This year none has yet to fly to Ward Hunt Island, it is a matter of life or death if there is not enough daylight and visibility. I was told that as soon as the weather clears we can fly.

I was also shocked to hear from Mickey that Kenn Borek Air decided to become a sponsor for our expedition. Mr. Iwata our staff member at Global EdVenture Secretariat in Tokyo, Japan has been asking for their sponsorship towards our project.

I was told that Kenn Borek Air became a sponsor because of the wonderful objectives of our project: educating young people about the global environment and conveying the beauty and fascination of Canada's arctic region. I was so happy that I hugged Mickey and together we rejoiced. Lucas was standing nearby and congratulated me. Back to the hotel I told Joichi, Håvard, and Stepan about it and they were greatly delighted by the good news. Martha at the Kitchen also congratulated us with a big smile on her face.

We have been struggling to raise funds for the project, so this sponsorship from Kenn Borek Air is really a blessing from heaven.
