Flying National Flags

Five days from today we will be starting the expedition. There is less work now in the team, and everybody can spend his own time. As I can stay here for two months at most, I intend to do research on the Inuit people and villages after seeing off the expedition team on the 28th.

We took pictures in the afternoon. National flags (Norway, Russia, and Japan) of each team member, Canada, and Nunavut Territory, all together five flags, were flown in the sky of the arctic land.

Resolute Bay is a gateway to arctic regions, such as North Pole, for expedition teams from all over the world. So people from many countries have stayed in this town.

A national flag is a symbol of the country. Normally it is natural for people to be proud of their national flags. However many people in Japan do not feel good about the Japanese national flag.
