Sewing bee

At 10:00 I talked with the expedition team. They are now staying comfortably and restoring their energy by eating delicious food.

Today I will show photos taken at a sewing bee.

Inuit women gathered in the cafeteria of the hotel.
This cafeteria run by CO-OP is a popular gathering place for many people.

Slippers made of felt
The mark is called "Inuksuit" also used in the Nunavut territorial flag.

Red picture in the center is Inuksuit.

Inuksuit is an ancient stonework.
Inuksuit mainly has three roles. Firstly it is used as a signpost. A network of Inuksuit was set up in a way that people can reach a destination place just by following it one by one. Secondly it works as a compass. By the way it is built, people can tell the direncton. Thirdly it is a marker that indicates a hunting field for caribous.

Tacos the Inuit women were eating in between times
Tacos are a food born in Mexico, a country 10,000km south of Resolute Bay. When the Inuit had a hunting-centered lifestyle, in order to soften animal skin the Inuit women used to chew it whenever there is a time, such as between housework or child rearing.
