Qarmartalik
Usually the expedition team calls me in the morning, but I did not receive any call.
I waited until the noon, but there was no call.
I tried to call them but the phone was switched off in order to save the battery.
I guess they did not have the time to make a phone call.
Anyway I decided to wait until night time.
Qarmartalik School's name comes from the pillar of tents made of white whale's bones.
The tents were used in the age when there was no circulation of money and people lived by hunting.
The Inuit placed sealskins over the bones and lived inside the tent in the season where there is no snow.
In winter, they built igloos by blocks of snow and lived there.

They are not woods, but bones of white whale.

Covered with snow, it is hard to see the whole frame. It is a famous place in Resolute Bay.

I waited until night but did not receive any phone call,
so I made a call to Mr. Ohba's satellite phone.
I was fortunate that he was in the midst of operating the satellite phones when I called him.
He sounded fine, but Håvard's condition is not good.
He said that Håvard and he were suffering from a light frostbite on their fingers.
According to him today's weather was fine and no wind. The temperature is -36°.
Their position is 83 degrees 06 minutes North and 71 degrees 59 minutes West.
Due to the heavy weight (approx. 100kg) of the sled, they could advance only 6km.
